Yelp Is Not An Impartial Place For Reviews
The US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in California ruled in favor of Yelp, stating that is was LEGAL for them to add/ remove reviews based on whether or not a business purchases ads from them. This is a ground-breaking ruling in Yelp’s favor as many businesses have sued Yelp, saying that their practices of review manipulation based on ad purchases was illegal. It will be interesting to see how other courts will rule after this precedence has been set.
